Overview of Family Knowledge About Heart Attacks in Hypertension Patients in Magersari Village
Abstract
Hypertension is a primary health issue in society and stands as the most dominant risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. If
not managed optimally, this disease can trigger fatal medical emergency complications, such as a heart attack or myocardial
infarction. The high incidence of field emergencies leading to sudden death is generally driven by delayed medical response
due to the family's lack of knowledge or inability to recognize early warning signs and provide proper first aid. Therefore,
introducing this issue forms the background of this study, which aims to identify the profile of family knowledge level
regarding heart attacks among hypertension patients in Magersari Village. This descriptive quantitative approach was
conducted in Magersari Village in February 2026. Utilizing a total sampling technique, a sample of 60 respondents who were
family members of hypertension patients was obtained. Data collection was performed using a structured questionnaire
instrument. The data analysis revealed that the demographic characteristics were dominated by female respondents (56.7%),
high school graduates (86.7%), and entrepreneurs/self-employed individuals (63.3%). The overall assessment of the family's
knowledge level indicated that the majority of respondents fell into the poor category with 27 people (45.0%), followed by the
moderate category with 25 people (41.7%), and only 8 people (13.3%) possessed a good level of knowledge.
