Diabetes mellitus is classified as a long-term health condition that requires continuous treatment with self-care management to prevent emergencies, with the active involvement of family members being a significant determinant of increasing the patient's capacity to self-manage the disease they suffer. This study aims to analyze the relationship between family support and self-care management to prevent emergencies in diabetes mellitus patients at the Sukodono Sidoarjo Health Center. The study used an analytical quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach on 42 patients with diabetes mellitus by assigning respondents using a purposive sampling approach, then collecting scientific information through HDFSS (Hensarling Diabetes Family Support Scale) and DSMQ (Diabetes Self-Management Questionnaire) questionnaires, data correlation testing using Spearman Rank analysis (α = 0.05). The results showed that the level of support from the respondents' families was in the adequate category, while self-medication adherence was relatively good. Through the Spearman Rank test, it was revealed that there was a very strong positive correlation (p = 0.001) (r = 0.858) between the family support system and self-care management. These findings show that the better the family attention, the more effective the patient's disease management. The results of the study recommend the need to mobilize the active role of the family in patient assistance to support health control and minimize medical emergencies.
